A virgin jungle expanse covering 4,343 square kilometres, Taman Negara was established in 1939 and is Malaysia’s first and largest National Park. It is also one of the oldest rainforests in the world, estimated at 130 million years old. The diversity of flora and fauna here is phenomenal, making it one of the world’s richest ecosystems.
The Mutiara Taman Negara Resort has a superb rainforest setting overlooking the Tembeling and Tahan rivers. Being the only Resort inside the National Park boundary, it is an ideal place from which to explore the surrounding area. Accommodation is in comfortable Malaysian-style wooden chalets with hot and cold showers, air conditioning, television, mini-fridge, coffee & tea making facilities and ceiling fans.
Full Itinerary
1400hrs – Expected arrival at Kuala Tahan jetty, Proceed to Mutiara Taman Negara boat counter for boat crossing to the resort. Proceed to the department of Wildlife at the resort to register and obtain necessary permit and licenses.
1500hrs – Check-in resort ( early check-in subject to room availability ).
0730hrs – Breakfast at Seri Mutiara Restaurant at the resort
0830hrs – Enjoy a 1 ½ hours trek up Teresek Hill and be rewarded with a magnificent view of the tropical rainforest at the top. On a clear day, you can see Mount Tahan, the highest mountain in Peninsular Malaysia. Continue your adventure with a canopy walkway (closed on Friday), built 40 meters above the ground and 530 meters in length. Experience the rainforest from a different perspective, as you get closer to the top of the trees!
1300hrs – Lunch at Seri Mutiara Restaurant at the resort ( own arrangement )
1430hrs – Take a boat ride to the cataracts of Lata Berkoh enjoying the splendid pristine jungle scenery along the way. Swim, relax or read amidst the serene atmosphere.
1200hrs – Check-out from hotel and continue your onward journey.
